How do you like the idea of living inside a shipping container? Kinda weird? But that’s not the case with the Adam Kalkin’s prehab homes made from shipping containers. The architect makes container homes that are good looking, transportable and recyclable. He isn’t the only architect to make shipping container homes, but what he creates is exceptional and luxurious. The best examples that explain his creativity are the Bunny Lane, his own home built with a 19th century clapboard cottage inside an industrial hanger, and the Push Button House, which takes just 90 seconds to expand to reveal a five-room home. While we were in Vegas earlier this month covering CES, we got a sneak peek at the New American Home, a posh house on town outskirts that Microsoft and a few other select tech companies were involved in designing. Built on the same block where Wayne Newton lives, the half-acre home has tons of whole-house electronics, including 10 Toshiba HDTVs, a 16-zone Nuvo distributed-audio system, and Anthem A/V processors — all controlled by Lifeware software that lets you access it from anywhere. You can start your bathtub (Kohler, of course), pick what music you want to listen to, and fire up the towel warmer… all from your phone.

The Largest Indoor Golf Arena being built in The Netherlands, this concept is set to open in 2010 and it will be one of the best destinations to spend your golf vacations. The location of the center has not yet been finalized, but architects Zwarts & Jansma have already been engaged to undertake the project and talks are underway with local councils in The Netherlands to establish a site for the facility which is expected to attract up to 150,000 visitors per year according to Jon Standing, CEO of Indoor Golf Project.
