Kinda weird? But that’s not the case with the Adam Kalkin’s prehab homes made from shipping containers. The architect makes container homes that are good looking, transportable and recyclable. He isn’t the only architect to make shipping container homes, but what he creates is exceptional and luxurious. The best examples that explain his creativity are the Bunny Lane, his own home built with a 19th century clapboard cottage inside an industrial hanger, and the Push Button House, which takes just 90 seconds to expand to reveal a five-room home. Anyway, Kalkin charges $150-$400 per square foot for his container homes and the cheapest of his creations sells for $50,000.

Some of his prehab homes are a single room in a single container, while the others feature a range of structures built inside them with that luxurious touch. Does the idea of living inside a shipping container still looks weird to you?

Built on the same block where Wayne Newton lives, the half-acre home has tons of whole-house electronics, including 10 Toshiba HDTVs, a 16-zone Nuvo distributed-audio system, and Anthem A/V processors — all controlled by Lifeware software that lets you access it from anywhere. You can start your bathtub (Kohler, of course), pick what music you want to listen to, and fire up the towel warmer… all from your phone.

The most amazing thing about the home is the power bill: $0. Thanks to extensive solar paneling (and the desert sun), the house is completely self-powered. But our favorite feature is the spectacularly chic pool (seen in the gallery below), whose surface is at the same level as the surrounding edge, separated only by a barely noticeable inch-thin drain.

In the market? The house isn’t as pricey as you’d think: Tyler Jones of Blue Heron, who built the house, told us it costs somewhere north of $5 million. Though the place we saw is going to stay a show home for a while, it’ll be part of a community called Marquis Vegas, which is planned have about 14 of these babies. We’ll take three.

The Largest Indoor Golf Arena being built in The Netherlands, this concept is set to open in 2010 and it will be one of the best destinations to spend your golf vacations. The location of the center has not yet been finalized, but architects Zwarts & Jansma have already been engaged to undertake the project and talks are underway with local councils in The Netherlands to establish a site for the facility which is expected to attract up to 150,000 visitors per year according to Jon Standing, CEO of Indoor Golf Project.

The Indoor Golf Arena an 18,000 square meter indoor golfing facility, making it the largest facility of its kind in the world. The Indoor Golf Arena comprises top quality business facilities, a golf course for kids, a wellness center with a sauna and spa, a restaurant, lounge and bar, a conference room, meeting rooms, sky lounges, a large golf equipment shop and 4-star hotel, will provide both recreational and professional training facilities for all golfers, regardless of weather conditions.
